Dear Friends near and far,

Mike and I have met many of you yesterday whom we know had been great friends with Richard over the years. We were also reunited with friends from my own college days and from Rchrd's previous apostolate. Both Masses for Richard at Chew and at Harrow Weald and the reception of his body at St Joseph's were very
moving litugies, appropriately focusing on our faith, and what we believe and not about not letting go or sentimentality. Everything was perfect and I am certain that Richard, who had great standards himself for dignified liturgy would have been well pleased. Thanks to Liam Madden, this Blog has been great for dissemination of information and kept many friends involved. I said in an earlier entry that we would give some thought to how we could take forward the spirit that Richard has shown us and one thing a lot of you have asked for is continued networking and contact. I am not talking here about any of us not letting go of the past, but rather moving forward in prayer and friendship with each other and supporting the Salvatorians who enabled Richard to work among us and try to bring us to a closer understanding of God. Some of us still have a way to go yet, but with each other's help we can become a force for good. Any suggestions and ideas welcome!

Helen

Thank you for the photos. I wish I had been there... I've really missed saying ' A-Dieu ' to Richard and being reunited with other friends to whom Richard has meant so much.
But as Helen says, let's us now let the spirit Richard gave us take us forward.

Thank you Helen and Mike for everything you have done for Richard and for keeping us all so well informed about his period of illenss and the susequent funeral arrangements. I hope you can both have some time to yourselves now to come to terms with the loss of Richard.
I would be interested in looking at ways in which we could do justice to example of faith and friendship that Richard gave us - perhaps by creating/strengthening (?)the Lay Salvatorian group. Hope to chat further with any other interested in similar ideas

It is great the interest that keeping on keeping on and strengthening our own faith and taking something positive from our sad loss. Keep the ideas coming in and then when we have had a little time and distance from our sorrow, in a few months time, we can start collating and looking at what is in our ideas basket. It may hopefully then be like one of Richard's soups, full of variety and flavour!

Keep the comments coming in. It would be nice to hear from some Chew Magna friends, what their experience of Richard was.
