Message from Fr. Richard

Dear Friends,

I have been most intrigued by the Blog, and all its comments. Even at 81 years of age, I can still be surprised!

I want to send this message to all of you who I am not able to speak to personally.

Although I have begun to recover from the effects of the recent surgery, I am aware that the disease is having an impact on my general well being.

I am most grateful for the overwhelming amount of good wishes, phone calls, cards and letters and blog messages you have sent.

One of my hopes in the hospital was to return to my home in Chew Magna and enjoy some days there writing, relaxing and praying. I have made a start, and hopefully I may yet do a little more.

I have photos of many of you up on my wall which helps remind me of the wonderful occasions we have shared.

With love,

Richard

I am missing your sermons! Have you thought of having them published, or at least shared with your fellow priests? I always looked forward to them as they were always relevant to today's world, with a deep message, but always delivered with humour.

I wish you well and hope that you are coping with your illness.Of all the people I know, I am sure that you are finding the positive in your situation.

God Bless and love from all the family,

Kathleen

Hi Father Richard

We are indeed saddened in Singapore to hear of your condition and our best wishes to you during this difficult period. You have indeed touched the lives of all the Singaporeans who were fortunate enough to have met and befriended you. We are all praying for you, be it, muslim, christian, buddhist, etc. We all thank GOD for your time on earth and are thinking of you.

All our love,

Kevin, Petrina, Kim Fong, Fairuz,Winston, Hwei Choen, Gerald

Dear Richard,

Thank you for finding the strength to send us such a long message and thank you again for all you have given us. We haven't written very often, but we think of you very frequently and pray for you. We hate to think that you are so ill, but at least we have this blogspot to keep us in touch...all thanks to Helen and Mike. In your message you address us as your FRIENDS, but in reality we are your loving FAMILY, your CHILDREN...As in all large families, it's impossible to gather everyone together when you would really like to, but the love is there, you can be quite sure of that.

God be with you, Father,
and all our love,

Oliver and Françoise

Hello Richard

I check the blog regularly for news of you and do understand that you can't speak to everyone or have visits. Several people from Mary Ward days are thinking of you - I hope you feel the positive vibes! I think the picture you have of me on your wall is from the college trip to Italy, one of the highlights of which was our much-talked of ascent of the Matterhorn - well the lower slopes of it anyway!
Will be keeping a close eye on the blog and of course, keeping you very much in my thoughts

Love Marion

Mmmmn geography not my strong point...maybe it was the college trip to Switzerland rather than Italy? It was a long time ago...!

Dear Richard,
You are in our thoughts and we pray for all your intentions (and we hope Everton winning the Premiership is somewhere in there too!).
We have so many happy thoughts when we think of you: wonderful home-made curries, lots of giggles, thought- provoking sermons that were never too long, our wedding day, your fantastic letters - we could go on. Suffice to say you really are inspirational. Your help and advice has always been given in abundance and warmly received.
With great love,
Mary, Vinny and family xxxx

Dear Father Richard,

I hope the weather is at last allowing you to get out into the garden a bit. What a contrast with last year! We remember how hot it was when you came to see us in London, especially on the day of our "flight" on the London Eye. We think of you often and pray for you. God bless you.
Love from 2 more of your family,

Charles and Kate Goulden
